As well as being Ireland's busiest airport, Dublin Airport is among the ten busiest in Europe. Up to 80,000 passengers pass through it every day during the peak season, with more than 600 aircraft movements. And with the opening of terminal two, the airport effectively doubled its capacity to 35 million a year.
Attaching the large LED-illuminated letters that branded the front of the terminal building Dublin Airport Authority was no easy task. We achieved it by fixing them onto a custom-made framework installed between large vertical architectural fins – but only after carrying out extensive structural engineering calculations to make sure that the building would carry the weight.
We worked with Martifer, the multinational construction group based in Portugal, to organise all the access equipment that was needed. Everyone agreed that the end result was stunning.
